M.Sc. (Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology)
Programme
Introduction
The
pharmaceutical industry has been one of the fastest growing
industries in Singapore for the past five years, and pharmaceutical
industry is the main driving force for the growth of Singapore
biomedical sciences. As observed in 2006, pharmaceutical industry
has achieved an astonishing 34.5% growth in manufacturing output
which amounted to $S20 billion and it has created more than 4000
jobs. A survey of the growing pharmaceutical industry reveals a
constant and strong demand for skilled workforce in the area of
formulation science, product quality assurance and regulatory
compliance. The National University of Singapore's Master of
Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology programme aims to
address this gap in manpower training.
Prospective students who are already working or aspiring to enter
the pharmaceutical industry are invited to apply for enrolment in
this programme. Students are allowed to complete the course in two
semesters (full-time) or four semesters (part-time). Upon
graduation, the graduates are capable of contributing in various
aspects of pharmaceutical industry, ranging from manufacturing,
processing, formulation, regulatory compliance, and quality
assurance of pharmaceutical ingredients and finished products. The
graduates will be equipped with knowledge and skills in formulating
and processing of chemical and biological drugs into various
pharmaceutical dosage forms; in addition, they will be familiar with
the regulatory and quality compliance of pharmaceutical products.
